Are you ready to join the electric scooter revolution in Singapore? With the increasing popularity of e-mobility, it’s no surprise that many are considering purchasing their first electric scooter. But where do you start? You are probably confused about LTA regulations, what are the different types and safety concerns that you should know of or even the pricing differences.

At Eko Life, we’re passionate about making sustainable transportation accessible and enjoyable for everyone. In this blog post, we’ll take you through the essential steps to buying your first electric scooter in Singapore, from deciding on the right type of scooter to taking the escooter theory test online.

Step 1: Choosing the Right Electric Scooter

The first step in buying your first electric scooter is deciding what type of scooter you need. Do you prefer standing or seated escooters? Standing escooters are perfect for those who want a more traditional riding experience – kick scooter type, while seated escooters offer added comfort and support. Consider your daily commute, the terrain you’ll be riding on, and your personal preferences to make an informed decision. At Eko Life, we offer a range of electric scooters designed to meet the needs of different riders.

Tips: If you are thinking of sending kids or having a pillion with you – it’ll be better to take the seated escooters; if you need a quick transit and will be travelling in the MRT, Bus or Car with the escooter, then a CS1 standing escooter is perfect.

Step 2: Considering Installation Plans $$$

Purchasing an electric scooter can be a significant investment. Between $999 – $1699. If you’re on a budget or want to spread the cost over time, consider installment plans. At Eko Life we provide escooter installment plans. Ranging between the Atome and Grab installment over 3 months interest free, Credit Card installment up to 12 months interest free or Fundbox installment up to 24 months via PayNow monthly.

This can be especially helpful if you’re not ready to pay the full amount upfront. The Fundbox escooter (PMD) installment plan starts as low as $95/month. That’s about $3.20/day – might be enough to cover your multiple bus transfers!

Step 3: Preparing for Your Electric Scooter Theory Test

Before you start riding, it’s essential to pass the PMD electric scooter theory test online. This test will assess your understanding of traffic rules, road safety, and basic scooter handling skills. To complete this, you can registere your interest here and ensure you have your Singpass login ready. Upon registration you may have to wait up to 5 days before you receive the test link via email. Make sure to study the official guidelines and practice before taking the test to ensure you’re prepared as retesting may require additional payment.

Step 4: Purchasing and Accepting Ownership Transfer

Once you’ve passed your theory test, it’s time to purchase your electric scooter! Research different models, read reviews, and compare features to find the right one for you. When purchasing, make sure to provide the accurrate details to us for ownership transfer procedures. This will ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience when transferring the title of your new scooter.
